AOOSTAR G-Flip mini PC features Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and a flip-up display

The AOOSTAR G-Flip is an upcoming mini PC with a few unusual features. For one thing, it has an AMD Strix Point processor, with support for up to a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 12-core, 24-thread CPU and 16-core RDNA 3.5 graphics. That’s uncommon, but not exactly unique though.

What is strange about  this little computer though, is that it has a built-in display on the top. You can flip the 5.5-inch screen forward when you need it, or flatten it against the computer when you don’t.

AOOSTAR says the little display is meant to be used as a second screen rather than a primary display. And that makes sense – it’s a 1920 x 1080 pixel, 60 Hz display that could theoretically be used as your only screen. But it’s kind of small for web browsing, gaming, document editing, or other basic tasks.

So you’re more likely to use it for system status notifications, monitoring chats, maybe watching a video in a small screen below your primary display, or for other secondary applications. It could also come in handy while setting up the computer for headless operations, since you don’t need to plug in an external monitor while booting, configuring, or testing the computer.

The display is connected to the min PC with an aluminum alloy hinge that supports angles ranging from 0 to 90 degrees.

In a blog post, AOOSTAR also describes the G-Flip as “the first AI370 mini PC with removable memory.” That’s not even close to true, although it is the first AOOSTAR-branded model with two SODIMM slots for user-replaceable DDR5 memory instead of LPDDR5 RAM that’s soldered to the mainboard.

The computer also has two M.2 slots for PCIe 4.0 x4 storage. and a set of ports that includes:

  • 1 x OCuLink
  • 1 x USB4 Type-C
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
  • 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A
  • 2 x 2.5 GbE Ethernet
  • 1 x HDMI 2.1
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio

Other features include support for WiFi 7 and a fingerprint sensor integrated in the power button.

AOOSTAR hasn’t announced how much the G-Flip will cost, but the company says it will be available for purchase in mid-March, 2025.
