There’s a new mini PC available from several retailers (and sold under several different brand names) that features a low-power Intel Alder Lake-N or Twin lake processor with a lot of high-speed wired networking features.
Available in the UK as the CWWK S7 or in the US as the Healuck HL, the computer supports up to an Intel Core 3 N355 processor, up to 48GB of RAM, and up to two SSDs. But what makes this little PC interesting are its four high-speed LAN ports that could make the system useful as a firewall, router, or for other networking applications.
The computer has an aluminum chassis that measures 170 x 118 x 48mm (6.69″ x 4.64″ x 1.88″) with two fans inside the case. Under the hood the computer is a single SODIMM slot for DDR5-4800 memory and two M.2 2280 slots for PCIe 3.0 x1 SSDs.
You can also opt to use an M.2 M-Key to E-Key adapter (sold separately) to use one of those M.2 slots for a wireless card. There are two holes on the front of the case that you can use for optional wireless antennas if you do add a wireless card.
If you’re wondering why the SSDs are limited to single-lane connectivity, it’s probably because Intel Alder Lake-N and Twin Lake chips only support up to 9 lanes of PCIe 3.0, and the bulk of those lanes are allocated toward the computer’s wired networking. The computer features:
- 2 x 10 GbE LAN ports (Marvell AQC113B1-C, PCIe 3.0 x2)
- 2 x 2.5 GbE LAN ports (Intel i226-V, PCIe 3.0 x1)
If that sounds familiar, that may be because the CWWK S7 and Healuck HL have the same wired networking features as the iKOOLCORE R2 Max that launched in October. And based on the case design and port selection on the back of the computer, I wouldn’t be surprised if these new systems are based on the same design. But there are a few key differences.
For one thing, the new model is a little larger. And for another, there are more ports on the CWWK and Healuck systems.
In addition to networking ports, the new mini PCs feature:
- 1 x HDMI 2.0
- 1 x DisplayPort 1.4
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (10 Gbps)
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
- 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A (480 Mbps)
- 1 x 3.5mm audio
- 1 x DC power input
The Healuck HL is available from Amazon with prices starting at about $300 for a barebones model with an Intel N150 quad-core processor when you clip the on-page coupon. You can also opt for models with Intel Core i3-N305 or Core 3 N355 octa-core chips with prices starting at $369 and $410, respectively.
