The Khadas Mind is a modular mini PC that can either be used as a standalone computer or paired with compatible accessories thanks to a high-speed Mind Link connector on the bottom. The platform has been around for a few years at this point.
Last month Khadas announced plans to launch a new model powered by an Intel Arrow Lake-H processor, and now there’s good news and bad news for folks who’ve been waiting for it to arrive. The good news is that the Khadas Mind 2S is now available to purchase. The bad news is that it’s really expensive… at least for now.
When you select the Khadas Mind 2/2S option at the Khadas Shop, you’re greeted with a few different configuration options:
- Khadas Mind 2 with Intel Core Ultra 5 125H/16GB/512GB for $799
- Khadas Mind 2 with Intel Core Ultra 7 155H/32GB/1TB for $1099
- Khadas Mind 2 with Intel Core Ultra 7 155H/64GB/2TB for $1399
- Khadas Mind 2S with Intel Core Ultra 7 255H/64GB/2TB for $1599
Intel says its Core Ultra 200H “Arrow Lake” processors should deliver around 15 percent better performance than the previous-gen Core Ultra 100H “Meteor Lake” chips, and early benchmarks suggest you cold see even bigger performance gains in some situations.
So it’s not surprising that a top-of-the-line Khadas Mind 2S with an Arrow Lake chip costs $200 more than a Meteor Lake model with similar specs. But since that’s the only version of the Mind 2S available at launch, it means the cheapest (only) version of the new model costs nearly twice as much as the cheapest version of the Meteor Lake-powered Mind 2.
Hopefully that’ll change if and when Khadas offers more configuration options in the future.
The Khadas Mind 2S has an anodized aluminum body that measures 146 x 105 x 20mm (5.75″ x 4.13″ x 0.79″) and weighs 435 grams (15.3 ounces) and features LPDDR5X-8400 memory and an M.2 2230 slot for PCIe 4.0 storage.
Ports include:
- 1 x Thunderbolt 4 (40 Gbps)
- 1 x USB4 Type-C (40 Gbps)
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
- 1 x HDMI 2.1
Khadas Mind mini PCs also have a built-in 5.55 Wh battery that allows the computer to keep running for a brief period when disconnected from a power outlet, and a Mind Link interface on the bottom of the computer allows for a 256 GT/s PCIe 5.0 x8 connection to optional add-ons including the Mind Dock (docking station), Mind Graphics (eGPU), and upcoming devices like the Mind xPlay portable display.
