The Topton D13 is a compact desktop computer that measures 108 x 108 x 60mm (4.25″ x 4.25″ x 2.36″) and features an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS ES processor, 32GB of LPDDR5-6400 onboard memory and three M.2 2280 slots for PCIe 4.0 x4 storage.
It’s also the smallest, cheapest mini PC I’ve seen that features an OCuLink support that enables an external PCIe connection for graphics docks or other accessories. The Topton D13 is available from AliExpress for around $400 and up. But at least part of the reason for that could be that the “ES” in the processor name stands for “engineering sample,” which means there’s a chance that there could be some performance issues.
The starting price is for a model with 32GB of RAM and no storage or operating system. But you can pay extra for systems with up to 6TB of PCIe NVMe storage if you don’t want to supply your own.
The little computer’s OCuLink port enables a 64 Gbps connection for an external graphics card or docking station. But even without that feature, the D13 is a pretty versatile little computer with support for up to three displays, high-speed network connections, and plenty of storage.
Topton’s little PC features a black metal chassis with a wooden top cover featuring holes for ventilation and fans inside for active cooling.
Ports include:
- 1 x USB4 (40 Gbps)
- 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 2 x HDMI 2.1
- 2 x 2.5 GbE LAN (Intel i226-V)
- 1 x 3.5mm audio
The Topton D13 also features support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
While the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor is nearly two years old, it’s still a pretty powerful little chip designed for high-performance laptops and mini PCs, with a 35-54 watt TDP, 8 AMD Zen 4 CPU cores, and Radeon 780M integrated graphics with 12 RDNA 3 GPU compute units.
Topton also lets you bundle a MINISFORUM DEG1 eGPU dock with the Topton D13 if you want to add a discrete graphics card. But it’s actually cheaper to buy the DEG1 dock directly from MINISFORUM, which sells it for $99.
