The Mini Maker Turbo Mini X is a compact desktop computer that measures just 215 x 180 x 36mm (8.5″ x 7″ x 1.4″) and has an internal volume of 1.4 liters. While it’s hardly the smallest desktop computer around, it is one of the smallest with an Intel LGA1700 socket that lets you bring your own processor, with support for up to a 65-watt 14th-gen Intel Core chip.
Mini Maker’s little desktop also has another trick up its sleeve: support for a desktop-class discrete GPU when you use the company’s StreamPlay X External PCIe BOX.
According to Tom’s Hardware, which spotted the Turbo Mini X and StreamPlay X on the show floor at Computex, Mini Maker users a “proprietary cable” for its external graphics dock, which the company says enables a high-speed, low-latency connection.
Mini Maker says performance is about 5% lower than what you’d expect from a larger PC using an internal graphics card. By comparison, a Thunderbolt graphics dock can be as much as 30% slower. But I can’t help but wonder if this “proprietary” cable is just a custom version of the 63 Gbps OCuLink connectors that are increasingly common in this space.
While the processor and external graphics dock are the most unusual things about the Mini Maker Turbo Mini X, the little computer also features a custom motherboard with an Intel B760 chipset with two M.2 slots for PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSDs, and two SODIMM slots for up to 96GB of DDR5-4800 or DDR5-5600 dual channel memory. There’s also room for an optional 2.5 inch hard drive or SSD.
Other features include support for a wireless networking card (up to a WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 card), and a set of ports that includes:
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C (20 Gbps)
- 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2×1 Type-C (10 Gbps)
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A (5 Gbps)
- 4 x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 1 x HDMI 1.4
- 2 x DisplayPort 1.2
- 1 x 3.5mm audio
- 1 x Gigabit Ethernet
- 1 x “proprietary port for Mini Maker StreamPlay X External Graphics Box”
- 1 x DC power input
There’s also a fingerprint sensor on the power button, allowing you to resume from sleep and login to the computer with a single touch. This is something that’s not unusual on laptops, but it’s rare to find in a desktop.
The computer has a matte black chassis with a transparent side cover, and it comes with a compact 120W power adapter.

Mini Maker’s StreamPlay X graphics dock, meanwhile supports 250W, 350W, or 400W power supplies and features two 8-pin connectors and support for graphics cards up to 267mm.
The case for the graphics dock is also black with a transparent panel, and the dock includes a 12″ x 12″ CPU fan.
Tom’s Hardware reports that Mini Maker is a new brand from Taiwanese OEM Hibertek. There’s no word on if or when this computer and its companion graphics dock will be available for purchase outside of Taiwan and China, but Mini Maker is apparently looking for partners that could distribute it in other markets. So it’s possible we could see this system sold under different brand names in the future.
Pricing could conceivably start as low as $150 for the Turbo Mini X (without a processor, memory, or storage), and customers would pay $150 more for the optional graphics dock.
