The MINISFORUM EliteMini UM880 Pro is a small desktop computer with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor, support for up to four displays, an OCuLink port, and two 2.5 GbE LAN ports. And the MINISFORUM EliteMini UM890 Pro is a nearly identical system, except it has a Ryzen 9 8945HS processor.

MINISFORUM isn’t offering the little computers worldwide yet, but the Chinese PC maker is selling a model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for CNY 3499 (about $480) in the company’s home country and we’ll likely see a global launch soon.

Both the Ryzen 7 8845HS and Ryzen 9 8945HS processors are part of the AMD Hawk Point family and both are 8-core, 16-thread processors with Zen 4 CPU cores and 12-core Radeon 780M graphics based on RDNA 3 architecture. Both also feature Ryzen AI neural processing units for up to 16 TOPS of AI performance.

But while the Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU has a base frequency of 3.8 GHz and support for boost speeds up to 5.1 GHz, the Ryzen 9 has base/max boost speeds of 4 GHz and 5.2 GHz, respectively.

And while both are typically configured to run with TDP settings between 35 and 54 watts, MINISFORUM says that the UM880/UM890 Pro allows the chips to run at up to 70 watts for better sustained performance thanks to a “Cold Wave 2.2” cooling system with a large heat sink and fan.

Inside the case you’ll find two SODIMM slots for up to 96GB of total DDR5-5600 memory, two M.2 2280 slots with support for PCIe 4.0 SSDs and an M.2 2230 slot populated by a wireless card with support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 (or BT 5.3 on the UM890 Pro model).

The computer’s ports include:

  • 2 x USB4 (40 Gbps with DisplayPort Alt Mode for video output)
  • 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
  • 1 x OCuLink (63 Gbps)
  • 1 x HDMI 2.1
  • 1 x DisplayPort 1.4
  • 2 x 2.5 GbE Ethernet
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio

There’s also DC power input with support for a 19V power source and a digital microphone.

The MINISFORUM UM880/UM890 Pro measures 130 x 127 x 67mm (5.1″ x 5″ x 2.6″) and comes with a VESA mount kit that allows you to attach the computer to the back a display or a wall or desk mount.

While US pricing hasn’t been announced yet, these new mini PCs are very similar to the UM780 XTX, which has a previous-gen AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor that’s nearly identical to the 8840HS, but which has an NPU that only delivers 10 TOPs of AI performance.

At time of publication, you can pick up a barebones UM780 XTX for $399 or a model with 64GB of RAM and 1TB of storage for $649.
